Benefits of raised vegetable beds and flower beds
There are times when older people and those who are wheel chairs find it difficult to involve themselves in gardening as they have to bend themselves to do some gardening. If the garden is at their level with reduced physical effort then it would be good for them to involve in gardening. Raised vegetable beds and raised flower beds give that advantage to them in gardening.
In raised vegetable beds and raised flower beds the soil mixture is made by you by mixing the needed proportion of soil and manure. This gives the soil a richer composition which helps in giving more harvest output than the conventional gardens. Since soil is mixed by you, you have good control over it. Every year during spring you can top fresh the mixture with some more manure to maintain its richness.
Draining of water is quicker in raised vegetable beds and raised flower beds. With such quick draining the soil would lose its moisture content quickly. So you have to mulch it to retain the moisture. Mulching also has another benefit. It prevents weeds from germinating. In raised vegetable garden you can also grow naturally pest repelling plants which could act as a natural pesticide.
